15th Annual Goombay Bash

It was my great privilege to attend the 15th Annual Goombay Bash on July 18 at the Navy Pier Grand Ballroom in Chicago. I was honored to be the guest of Ben Bornstein, my Harvard Business School classmate and one of my co-founders of Harvard Alumni Entrepreneurs – Chicago, for this “Caribbean festival to find a cure for cancer.”

The Goombay Bash is presented by the H Foundation, with proceeds benefiting the cancer research of the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University. Ben, a cancer survivor himself, serves on the hosting committee along with his wife, Melissa.

The event featured actor LaRoyce Hawkins as emcee, other celebrity guests, gourmet food, fireworks and several fundraisers including auctions and raffles. Our table was filled with fascinating guests, including Howard Tullman, CEO of 1871, with whom I enjoyed discussing innovation in business.

The Navy Pier Grand Ballroom is one of the most beautiful places in Chicago, and the Goombay Bash was an evening of great vibrancy and energy, in a support of a uniquely important cause.
