Public Transportation, we are all in this together! Public transportation is becoming a bigger part of our lives, and an efficient way to get around. I love taking the trains and metro when I travel around the world. They are a great way to grasp the local culture. The Metro in Moscow is so beautiful that it is a part of many of the tours for visitors.

Here are a few tips on how to be respectful when using public transportation.

Passengers Exit First: When the bus or metro doors open always let the passengers inside exit first before attempting to board. Stand to the right or left of the doors to make room for people exiting. It is always a nice gesture to allow parents with strollers, people with disabilities, and seniors exit first.

Single Seat : One seat per person; It a pretty simple rule. If you have a bag or other carry-ons please hold them on your lap or place them under your seat without blocking the aisle. Don’t place them in the empty seat next to you, especially if other riders are looking for a seat.

Share the Pole: Do not lean on the pole on a Metro train or bus. Leave room for others around you to hold on to the pole.

Germ Prevention: Do not cough or sneeze in your hand. This will transfer those germs to the poles, door handles, or seats. Other people have to interact with these items and do not want to mix germs. To prevent this, cover your mouth with a tissue or sneeze into your elbow.

Electronic Devices: Keep your music at a low volume and always wear headphones. Speaker phone or Facetime have no business being utilized on a train, airplane, bus, or ferry. Find a private area, and excuse yourself to converse on your phone.
