Every year starting as early as October the headlines of magazines, internet ads and television commercials all highlight themes such as:

-Tips to Beat Holiday Stress

-How to Survive Family Gatherings

-How to Avoid Gaining Weight During the Holidays

-How to Travel with Kids and Not Lose Your Sanity

Exhausting! Just reading the titles alone made me stressed!

As a child I always thought that holidays were the best part of the year – you don’t have to go to school, you play with cousins and you eat delicious food. What happened between childhood holiday fun and adult media drama? Too many expectations? Too many gifts? Too many parties? Too many magazines who need a catchy headline to sell magazines?

I think the answer is to embrace cherished moments with family and friends, enjoy every bite of good food, find time for exercising and meditation, and always remember that people come first – things second.
