Atlantic Dance Retail Shows
On Feb. 10 and 11, I attended the Atlantic Dance Retail Show, held at the Holiday Inn Chicago North Shore in Skokie, IL. Despite the snow and cold weather, many dancewear retailers traveled from as far away as Denver and Minneapolis to attend the show and meet vendors of all types.
Then on Feb. 24 and 25, I flew to Maryland for another Atlantic Dance Retail Show, held at the Baltimore Hunt Valley Inn. That show was very well attended and included dancewear retailers from all over the east coast as well as several from overseas.
At each show, I enjoyed brainstorming about business with Russian Pointe® retailers, showcasing new products, meeting new retailers and laughing and sharing stories with friends both old and new.
At our booth, we displayed our full line of pointe shoes, ballet slippers and Growing Through Arts® books and toys, as well as our new collection of demi-pointe shoes, which are designed to help young dancers transition from ballet slippers to pointe shoes.
At both shows, I presented the always popular Pointe Shoe Fitting Seminar, where I explained about Russian Pointe®’s different models and how to properly fit each dancer. Both seminars were well attended, and the Baltimore seminar was completely sold out!
One of the highlights of this year’s trade shows was meeting Lindsay Anderson, who had visited the Russian Pointe Dance Boutique to get fitted for a pair of pointe shoes when she was a teenager. Today, Lindsay is all grown up and is working with her mother and sister running the dancewear retail store, Dancer’s Dream, in Geneva, IL.
It’s stories like these that make me realize once more how much I love this business. Looking forward to seeing you all again next year!
